Tunnels and Guns Part 1

Yesterday we went to the tunnels of Cu Chi. It was a half day
trip that turned out to be a lot more exhausting then we
expected. I had been there before with my family but it seems
they had opened many more tunnels since then. Cu Chi is an
underground town that was created in the 1940's to guard
against the French. It was later used in the Vietnam war
against the Americans. The system of tunnels housed some
20,000 people for over thirty years and we were in them for
less then 1 hour and I could hardly handle that. After
watching a documentary on them made in the 1960's(rather
humorous at times and biased war propoganda :) ) we were able
to go into them. The first one we went in took about 5
minutes to travel through and it was only 3 meters deep.
The second tunnel was quite a different story. This tunnel
was barely lit in places and went to 6 meters deep in the
ground. If we didnt have a guide with a flashlight we would
have gooten lost crawling on our hand and knees and sweating
our butts off. I hit my head several times on the hardened
clay but Casey had the best experience. As we were coming out
of the tunnel at the end after about 20 minutes, muddy and
exhausted, a bat flew right into his face trying to get back
in his hole that we had disturbed. His reaction was priceless
and his words can't be repeated... needless to say I could
not stop laughing.

I have to go but will update the rest in a few hours
tonight... To come the rest of the tunnels and my Colt 45
shooting experience! :) Missing ya much Tommy!

Alright kids. I wanted to let you guys know how my re-americanizing is going. With the help of Dr. Pez McKesik I am finding my way back to the american way of excess and ignorance very well. On a crap note though I was contacted by rocket yesterday. Ok, so you know how I was excited about taking a chance on working with rocket and the worstcase scenario was them having no projects lined up when I got back? Well as it so happens that is now a reality, and thus I would not have had to come home. However I do have a number of other firms that I am beginning to talk to about freelance so it's really not a big deal. Bottomline though I could have stayed with ya'll if communications would have been better. Still of all we all miss you and hope everything continues to go smoothly.
