I'm Peter Fonda
So we've made it to the charming, mountain hamlet of
Dalat. It's about 200 km NE of Saigon and a world
away. None of the pollution, half the traffic (human
and otherwise) and twice as much green space.
It's really a beautiful town and, surprisingly, not
overrun with tourists. We haven't seen that many
whiteys, which is good cause you all know how I hate
the man.
Dalat is situated in a valley surrounded by low, lush
mountains covered in conifer forests. The temperature
is about 15 degrees cooler here, and most of the
locals are sporting winter jackets. Always amusing.
Upon arrival yesterday we met up with a guy named
Peter who operates "Easy Rider Tours". You're all
smart people and have probably but two and two
together, but just in case, we're taking a motorcycle
tour up the Ho Chi Minh trail. Yeah, that's right,
Ben, Sean and I will spend the next four days
travelling from Dalat to Hoi An on the backs of
touring bikes up the Ho Chi Minh trail along the
Laotian border.
This guys seems very reliable. He's been doing this
kind of thing for years and carried a fat book of
testimonials from former clients. He wanted an
outrageous sum for 5 days, but we haggled for a good
hour or so and got the price down quite a bit for 4
days.
In the end, we were torn: Sean was leaning towards
"no", taking into account all the great things we
could do with the money if we continued on alone. And
we'd been making a pretty good trip out of things on
our own. Ben was leaning towards "yes" as this was a
once in a lifetime experience and, come on, it's the
Ho Chi Minh trail by motorcycle! My powers of
decision completely failed me as the cheap bastard and
the adventurous spirit inside me waged war. In the
end, it came down to the time tested coin flip.
We'll be leaving early tomorrow on the bikes and will
give a full report from Hoi An.
Hope things are going well. Keep checking the blog
for updates from Sean and Ben,

Take care all,
Casey

HI Guys,
Good to see you've updated. I was wondering what heppened to you guys after Cambodia!:) It shows how much of a hypochondriac I am when I was reading about Casey walking through the "muck" and I was thinking "I hope he doesn't have any scratches on his legs" until he said he looked himself.:) yucky. Well I hope you are doing okay on your motorcycle trip.:) At first I thought you meant you guys would be driving them through the tour yourselves!:) Tom has told me all about scuba diving and I still think I would faint upon seeing a shark of any kind. Anyways, have a great rest of your trip. Love, Sheri

Sean you know how you were talking about girls getting all excited about understanding technology? See how excited Sheri is?
Hey guys.. hope you survived your motorcycle trip unscathed.. lookin forward to hearing from you guys soon. Your posting skills and efficiency has started to trail off - and you keep leaving those of us here at home with nothing to read about! I expected better from you guys :-P
hehehe
p.s. girls get excited about technology because boys always tell us that we are stupid when we ask questions (at least we can admit when we need help!) and so when we figured it out on our own- its a big accomplishment. plus- we are just more easily pleased then you guys apparently.
hope you are having fun and getting reacclimated to the states tom- if you talk to brad, tell him that i am sorry i called him at 2 am a few weeks ago... long story.
bye guys! send me more mail :-D
Ashley is funny.
I gathered a few helpful tips about Bangkok for you all when you go back there.
